Slip Point at Clallam Bay sits along the Strait of Juan de Fuca near Port Angeles, Washington, in Marine Area 5, with fishable depths running from 50 to 280 feet over rocky structure. Lingcod hold here through the winter and early spring, peaking from January to April, while Pacific halibut move through from March to August. Chinook salmon fish best from June to August and coho from June to September, overlapping through the summer. Anglers work the deeper rock for lingcod with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, or drop live greenling, herring, and squid on bait. Halibut come off the bottom by drift fishing herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid, and salmon respond to trolled herring, spoons, flashers, and hootchies along the same depths.
