The Hump sits off Port Angeles, Washington, an outer-exposed drop-off over mixed bottom that falls through depths of 80 to 200 feet. The structure draws Pacific Halibut, which move through in strongest numbers from March into August. Drift fishing works the sloping bottom here, presenting herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid along the edges where halibut hold. Jigging covers the same water when currents allow, with leadhead jigs, metal jigs, or soft plastic swimbaits worked near the seafloor. The exposed position and steep depth changes concentrate fish along the break rather than scattering them across open flats.
