Half Moon Bay sits off Westport, Washington, an outer-exposed sand flat that runs from 30 to 80 feet deep. The open, current-swept bottom holds Pacific Halibut, which peak from March through July. Drift fishing dominates here, working herring, squid, salmon bellies, or octopus across the sand as the tide carries the boat over productive ground. Jigging supports that approach, with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits worked near the bottom when fish hold tight. The featureless sand and exposed position make drift speed and depth control the central variables across this stretch.
