The Hump at 46.74189, -124.18068 is a rocky pinnacle rising from the outer exposed waters off Westport, Washington, with depths running from 35 to 75 feet. This structure holds lingcod, which peak from February through April and respond to jigging with metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, or bucktail jigs worked close to the rock. Pacific halibut move through from March to July and are targeted by drift fishing with herring, squid, salmon bellies, or octopus over the deeper edges. Through the summer months of June to September, aggregate rockfish stack up over the pinnacle and take metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and shrimp flies, while Chinook and coho salmon feed in the same window and are worked by trolling whole herring, cut-plug herring, spoons, and hoochies. Sablefish also hold in the area, and the broken rock terrain rewards anglers who position over structure and adjust presentations to the depth where fish are holding.
