Moclips Flats is an outer-exposed sand flat off Westport, Washington, running across depths of 20 to 60 feet. The open bottom draws Chinook and Coho Salmon, both peaking from June through September. Trolling dominates the fishery here, with whole herring, anchovies, trolling spoons, and hoochies for Chinook and cut-plug herring, spoons, hoochies, and flashers for Coho. When fish hold tight to the flat, mooching whole or cut-plug herring and jigging metal jigs work the same water at closer range. The sand exposure keeps the flat productive through the summer window when both salmon runs stage across it.
