The Westport Harbor Mouth / South Jetty sits at the outer edge of Westport, Washington, where the harbor channel meets exposed ocean water along a mixed-bottom corridor running 10 to 50 feet deep. This structure holds aggregate rockfish, which peak from June through September. Jigging is the dominant approach here, with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, swimbaits, or shrimp flies worked through the mixed bottom and along the jetty rock. Bait fishing with herring, squid, or shrimp flies covers the same water, while mooching herring or anchovies works the moving current through the channel corridor. Focus on the deeper edges of the range where rockfish stack against structure.
