About Whitcomb Flats Hump

Whitcomb Flats Hump is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle off Westport, Washington, rising through water that runs 10 to 50 feet deep. The rocky structure holds Lingcod, which peak from February through April, alongside resident Black, Blue, and Copper Rockfish and Pacific Cod. Pacific Halibut move onto the ground from March through July, while Chinook and Coho Salmon pass through from June into September. Anglers work the pinnacle for Lingcod with metal jigs, leadhead jigs paired with swimbaits, and bucktail jigs, or drift live greenling and whole herring across the rock. Halibut come to drifted herring, squid, and salmon bellies over the same structure, and salmon respond to trolled whole herring, spoons, and hoochies through the passing schools.
