About Cape Lazo (Comox Bar)
Cape Lazo, known locally as the Comox Bar, is an exposed sand flat off Comox on the east side of Vancouver Island, where depths run from 15 to 60 feet over open bottom. Chinook and Coho Salmon are the draw here, both peaking from June to September. Salmon fishing centers on trolling anchovy, herring, flashers with hoochies, or trolling spoons across the flat, with mooching cut-plug herring a productive option for Chinook. The exposed outer setting and shallow sand structure keep bait and salmon moving through the water column across the tide.
