STRUCTURE
Pinnacle
Outer Exposed

The Hump 0.7 km N of Hoskyn Rock is a rock pinnacle rising from the outer, exposed waters off Campbell River, with depths running from 40 to 120 feet. The structure holds Pacific Halibut through their April to September peak and Lingcod that concentrate in May and June and again from August into September, alongside a resident mix of Rougheye, Silvergray, and Darkblotched Rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Sablefish. Chinook Salmon move across the site from June through August. Halibut respond to drift jigging with leadhead jigs, swimbaits, and metal jigs worked over the rock, while bait fishing with whole herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid covers the deeper edges. Lingcod hold tight to the pinnacle and take metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, and bucktail jigs, and Chinook come to trolled anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies through the summer window.
