About Hoskyn Rock

Hoskyn Rock is an outer, exposed pinnacle of rocky bottom in DFO subarea 13-13 near Campbell River, British Columbia, rising through depths of 40 to 120 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak May through June and again August through September, alongside Rougheye Rockfish, Canary Rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Sablefish drawn to the broken rock and vertical relief. Chinook Salmon move through the exposed water from June into August. Lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs, leadhead jigs paired with swimbaits, or bucktail jigs worked close to the pinnacle, with bait fishing using whole herring, live greenling, or octopus as a supporting approach. Chinook are targeted by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies across the exposed edges, while mooching cut-plug or whole herring covers the same fish at depth.
