Rebecca Spit sits off Campbell River, British Columbia, where a rock drop-off falls through mid-exposure water into depths of 260 to 660 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon at their peak from June through August and Coho Salmon from May into September, with Pacific Halibut working the deeper bottom from April through September and Lingcod concentrating in May and June and again from August into September. Trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies covers the salmon along the drop-off edge, while mooching cut-plug herring works the same water at a slower pace. For halibut, drift jigging leadhead jigs and swimbaits over the rock bottom takes fish, and jigging metal or leadhead jigs pulls Lingcod off the structure. The deep rock also holds Canary and Copper Rockfish, Pacific Cod, and schooling Pacific Herring.
