About Rebecca Spit
Rebecca Spit is a rocky drop-off in DFO subarea 13-13 near Campbell River, British Columbia, where the bottom falls through the 260 to 660 foot range at a mid-exposure position. The structure holds Chinook Salmon at their peak from June through August and Coho Salmon from May through September, with Lingcod adding a strong window in May and June and again from August into September. Anglers work the Chinook with trolling using anchovy, herring, trolling spoons, or hootchies, and shift to mooching cut-plug herring or jigging metal jigs when fish sit deeper along the slope. Coho respond to trolling spoons, hootchies, and flashers over the same water, while bucktailing brings them up near the surface. Lingcod hold tight to the rock along the drop, where jigging metal jigs and leadhead jigs with swimbaits reaches them at depth.
