About Crow Islet

Crow Islet is a rock drop-off in DFO subarea 13-3 off Campbell River, where the bottom falls away through depths of 330 to 1310 feet at a mid-exposure position. Chinook Salmon run strongest from June through August, while Coho Salmon hold from May into September and Lingcod peak in May and June before returning through August and September. The spot also holds Quillback Rockfish, Copper Rockfish, and Pacific Cod along the same structure. Anglers working the Chinook troll anchovy, herring, trolling spoons, and hootchies over the drop, and switch to mooching cut-plug herring or jigging metal jigs when fish sit deeper against the rock. Lingcod come to metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, and bucktail jigs dropped tight to the edge of the shelf.
