About Vigilant Islets

Vigilant Islets is a rocky pinnacle in DFO subarea 13-3 off Campbell River, rising through outer, exposed water where depths run 40 to 120 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from May through June and again from August into September, alongside Black Rockfish that stay active May through September over the same rock. Anglers work the pinnacle for Lingcod with metal jigs, leadhead jigs paired with swimbaits, or bucktail jigs, and drop soft plastic swimbaits and leadhead jigs for the Black Rockfish that stack along the rock edges. Chinook Salmon move through from June to August and Coho from May to September, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies across the exposed grounds. Darkblotched Rockfish and Pacific Cod also hold on the deeper flanks of the pinnacle.
