Spoil Rock is a rock pinnacle off Campbell River, British Columbia, rising through moderately exposed water with depths from 10 to 60 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon at their peak from June through August and Coho Salmon from May into September, with trolling spoons, hootchies, and cut-plug herring covering the water above the pinnacle. Lingcod concentrate on the rock from May into June and again from August into September, taking metal jigs and leadhead jigs with swimbaits worked close to the bottom. Black Rockfish stack through the May-to-September window and respond to jigging with soft plastic swimbaits, while Pacific Halibut move through from April to September and come to drift-jigged leadheads and metal jigs. The rock draws Copper and Quillback Rockfish and Kelp Greenling as well, making the pinnacle a productive stop across the warmer months.
