About Doe Islet

Doe Islet is a rock drop-off in DFO subarea 13-3 off Campbell River, British Columbia, where the bottom falls away through 330 to 1310 feet at mid-exposure. Chinook Salmon peak from June through August and Coho Salmon run from May into September, with both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, hootchies, and flashers along the edge. Lingcod hold to the rock and fish best in May and June and again from August through September, responding to metal jigs, leadhead jigs with swimbaits, or bait such as whole herring and octopus. Black Rockfish work the same structure from May through September on metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits, while Copper Rockfish, Quillback Rockfish, and Pacific Cod share the deeper broken ground. The steep drop concentrates fish along the transition between the shallower rock and the open depths.
