Hump 0.6 km SE of Open Bay is a rocky pinnacle in the outer, exposed waters off Campbell River, rising through depths of 40 to 120 feet. The structure holds Pacific Halibut, which peak from April through September, alongside Lingcod that run strong in May and June and again from August into September. Chinook Salmon move through from June to August and Coho from May to September, while Canary Rockfish, Copper Rockfish, and Pacific Cod work the rock year-round. Anglers targeting halibut drift jig the pinnacle with leadhead jigs, swimbaits, and metal jigs, or fish bait such as whole herring, salmon bellies, octopus, and squid along the bottom. Lingcod come to metal jigs and leadhead jigs with swimbaits worked over the high rock, and salmon are taken by trolling herring, spoons, and hootchies across the current lines that set up over the structure.
