About Oyster Bay Hump

Oyster Bay Hump is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle in DFO subarea 13-1 off Campbell River, British Columbia, rising through depths of 90 to 140 feet. The rocky structure holds resident Lingcod, which peak from May through June and again from August into September, alongside Copper, Canary, and China Rockfish and Pacific Cod. Anglers work the pinnacle for Lingcod with metal jigs, leadhead jigs and swimbaits, or bucktail jigs, dropping to the rock along the deeper edges where the fish stack. Chinook Salmon move through from June to August and respond to trolling with anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies, while Coho Salmon run May through September and take trolled spoons and cut-plug herring. The exposed position and steep vertical relief concentrate baitfish and predators tight to the structure.
