Active Pass is a tidal corridor in Cowichan, British Columbia, running over rocky bottom at mid-exposure with depths from 30 to 150 feet. The rock structure and current-driven water hold Lingcod, which peak from June through August, alongside aggregate Rockfish that stay catchable year-round from January to December. Anglers work the rocky bottom with jigging as the primary approach, using metal jigs, swimbaits, and bucktail jigs to reach fish holding along the structure. Live bait drifting with live greenling, small rockfish, or herring supports the Lingcod effort, while bait fishing with herring, squid, or octopus strips takes Rockfish along the same rock. The moving water through the corridor concentrates fish against the rock, making the 30-to-150-foot range the zone to target.
