About Beddis Rock

Beddis Rock is a rocky pinnacle in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, sitting within DFO subarea 18-4 at mid-exposure with depths running 40 to 120 feet. The structure holds a strong resident rockfish population, with Black Rockfish peaking February through October and Copper Rockfish available year-round, alongside Lingcod that concentrate here from February to April. Jigging metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits over the pinnacle works the rock for lingcod and rockfish, while bait fishing with live greenling, whole herring, or squid takes lingcod holding tight to structure. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho from June to October, both worked by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons across the surrounding water. The vertical relief of the pinnacle draws fish up off the bottom, making the 40-to-120-foot band the productive zone to cover.
