About Galiano Bluffs

Galiano Bluffs sits along the shoreline of Galiano Island in British Columbia's Gulf Islands, within DFO subarea 18-2, where the bottom drops through 80 to 180 feet of rocky structure. The steep, current-swept depths hold rockfish year-round, including quillback, copper, and black rockfish, with lingcod concentrating from February through April. Chinook salmon move through from May to August, followed by coho that peak between June and October. Anglers work the deeper rock for lingcod and rockfish with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits, and take bait fishing with whole herring or squid when jigging slows. Salmon are targeted by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies along the tide lines that funnel past the bluffs.
