Ganges Shoal is a rock pinnacle in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, rising through mid-exposure water with depths running 25 to 135 feet. The structure holds Pacific Halibut, which peak from March through August, alongside Lingcod that peak February through April and Black Rockfish that stay active February through October. Anglers work the pinnacle with drift jigging for halibut using metal jigs, leadhead jigs with soft plastics, or herring, while jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs takes lingcod holding tight to the rock. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho from June to October, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons across the shoal. The rocky bottom and vertical relief concentrate rockfish through the water column, making jigging and bait fishing effective across the full depth range.
