About Georgina Shoals

Georgina Shoals is a rocky pinnacle in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, rising from depths of 60 to 180 feet within DFO subarea 18-1 at moderate exposure. The structure holds a strong resident population of Lingcod, which peak from February through April, alongside Black Rockfish that stay active February through October and Copper Rockfish available year-round. Anglers work the pinnacle with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs for Lingcod, backing off to live greenling, whole herring, or squid on the bottom when the fish are holding tight to rock. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho from June to October, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons over and around the high spots. Fishing the deeper edges and the crown of the pinnacle keeps baits in contact with the rockfish structure that defines this location.
