Gossip Shoals Hump is a rocky pinnacle in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, rising through mid-exposure water with depths running from 60 to 180 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from February through April, alongside Pacific Halibut through the longer March-to-August window and a mix of rockfish and Pacific Cod over the harder bottom. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho follow from June into October, giving the spot a working season that shifts from bottomfish to salmon as the year progresses. Lingcod come to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs worked close to the rock, while halibut respond to drift jigging with metal jigs, herring, or leadhead jigs dressed with soft plastics across the deeper edges. Salmon are taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies over and around the pinnacle, with mooching cut-plug herring a reliable follow-up when fish stack near the structure.
