About Perry Rock

Perry Rock is a rocky pinnacle in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, rising through mid-exposure water in DFO subarea 18-5 with depths running from 5 to 35 feet. The structure holds a strong resident rockfish population, including Black Rockfish peaking February through October and Copper Rockfish available across the year, along with Lingcod that peak from February through April. Jigging with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits works the rock and its edges for lingcod and rockfish, while bait fishing with herring, squid, or live greenling covers the same ground. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho from June to October, taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons over the pinnacle. The compact depth range and hard bottom concentrate fish tight to the structure, making precise presentations along the rock the productive approach.
