Salalikum Rock is a rock pinnacle in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, rising through mid-exposure water with fishable structure between 40 and 120 feet. The pinnacle holds a strong resident groundfish population, with lingcod peaking from February through April and black rockfish available from February into October, alongside copper rockfish year-round. Jigging with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, or swimbaits works the rocky terrain for lingcod and rockfish, while bait fishing with live greenling, whole herring, or squid takes lingcod holding tight to the structure. Pacific halibut move through from March to August and respond to drift jigging with metal jigs or leadhead jigs tipped with soft plastics across the deeper edges. Salmon fishing builds over summer, with Chinook peaking May through August and coho from June into October, both taken by trolling spoons, hootchies, and cut-plug herring around the pinnacle.
