About Yeo Point

Yeo Point is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off in the Gulf Islands, British Columbia, within DFO subarea 18-3, where the bottom falls away through depths of roughly 260 to 660 feet. Chinook Salmon hold here through their May to August peak, followed by Coho Salmon from June into October, while Lingcod concentrate over the rock from February to April. Trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, or trolling spoons covers the salmon along the edge of the drop-off, with mooching cut-plug herring and jigging metal jigs as alternatives when Chinook stack up on the structure. Lingcod respond to metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs worked down along the rock, and the same terrain holds Canary Rockfish, China Rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Sablefish at depth. The exposed setting and steep gradient keep bait and current moving across the point, concentrating fish along the break.
