STRUCTURE
Pinnacle
Outer Exposed

The Hump 0.7 km SW of Skirmish Islets is a rock pinnacle in the outer, exposed waters off Kyuquot, British Columbia, rising through a depth range of 25 to 285 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from March through May and again from June through August, alongside Pacific Halibut through the long March-to-August window and a mix of Canary Rockfish, Pacific Ocean Perch, and Sablefish over the rock. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho follow from June into September, making the pinnacle productive across the summer months. Lingcod hold tight to the rock and respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs, while Halibut come to drift jigging along the deeper edges or bottom bait fishing with whole herring, salmon bellies, or squid. Salmon are worked higher in the column, with trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, or spoons the primary approach for both Chinook and Coho.
