Longback Rocks is an exposed offshore pinnacle off Kyuquot, British Columbia, where rock structure climbs through a water column running from 25 to 285 feet. The pinnacle draws Chinook Salmon at their peak from May through August and Coho Salmon from June through September, with both species targeted by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies across the upper water and along the current lines that form over the structure. Deeper on the rock, Lingcod hold through their spring and summer peaks in March to May and June to August, worked with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs. Pacific Halibut move onto the surrounding bottom from March through August, taken by drift jigging with leadhead jigs and swimbaits or bottom bait fishing with whole herring, octopus, and squid. Canary Rockfish, Copper Rockfish, and Pacific Cod round out the mixed catch across the rock at depth.
