STRUCTURE
Pinnacle
Outer Exposed

McKiel Rock is an outer-exposed pinnacle off Kyuquot, British Columbia, rising over rock bottom through a depth range of 25 to 255 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from March through May and again from June through August, alongside Pacific Halibut running strong from March through August and Chinook Salmon that build from May into August. Lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs worked close to the pinnacle, while bait fishing with whole herring, live greenling, or squid covers the same rocky terrain. Halibut on the surrounding gravel and sand see drift jigging with leadhead jigs and metal jigs, with bottom bait fishing on whole herring, salmon bellies, or octopus as a supporting approach. Chinook are targeted by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and trolling spoons through the exposed water, and the site also carries Canary, Copper, and Quillback Rockfish along with Pacific Cod over the deeper rock.
