The Clara Islet Hump is a rocky pinnacle rising from an outer, exposed stretch of water off Kyuquot, with depths running from 25 to 255 feet. Lingcod hold along the rock structure through the spring and summer, peaking March through May and again June through August, while Pacific halibut work the deeper edges from March into August. Anglers target lingcod by jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs over the pinnacle, and drop leadhead jigs or swimbaits on the drift for halibut across the deeper bottom. Black rockfish, canary rockfish, and copper rockfish concentrate on the shallower rock, taking metal jigs and soft plastic swimbaits from March through September. Chinook salmon move through from May to August and coho from June to September, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, and spoons over the structure.
