Gull Rock is an outer-exposed pinnacle off Port McNeill, British Columbia, rising from rocky bottom through a working range of 0 to 125 feet. The structure holds lingcod, which peak in February through March, June through July, and August through September, alongside Pacific halibut from May to August and steady rockfish action from black, copper, and canary species through the summer. Chinook salmon run strongest from May to August and coho from May through September, with both taking well to trolling whole herring, anchovy, trolling spoons, or flashers with hootchies over and around the pinnacle. Anglers targeting lingcod work jigs and swimbaits close to the rock, while halibut come to drift jigging with leadhead jigs and metal jigs along the deeper edges of the structure. The exposed position and rock relief concentrate fish near the pinnacle, so tracking depth over the 0 to 125 foot range keeps presentations in the productive zone.
