About French Creek

French Creek is a mid-exposure bay off Qualicum Beach in DFO subarea 14-3, where a mixed bottom drops through depths of 15 to 80 feet. Chinook Salmon peak from July through September, while Coho Salmon hold from June into October, and both respond to trolling with anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies over the deeper water. Lingcod fish best from January through March, taken on metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs worked close to the mixed structure. Black Rockfish run from April through September and take metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits, with casting to shallower rock producing well. The varied bottom and moderate depth range also hold Canary Rockfish, Copper Rockfish, and Pacific Cod through the season.
