Seal Reef is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle off Qualicum Beach, British Columbia, rising through depths of 40 to 120 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon through their July to September peak and Coho Salmon across a long June to October window, while Pacific Halibut fish best from March to August and Lingcod concentrate here in the winter months of January through March. Trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies works the salmon over the pinnacle, and mooching cut-plug herring covers the same water when fish sit deeper. Halibut respond to drift fishing whole herring, octopus, or large jigs across the rock, and Lingcod come to metal jigs and swimbaits worked tight to the structure. Pacific Cod, Sablefish, and several rockfish species round out the bottom catch across the reef's rocky relief.
