Hump 1.7 km W of Windy Point is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle off Sayward, British Columbia, rising sharply through a depth range of 30 to 765 feet. The structure draws Chinook Salmon at their peak from May through August and Coho Salmon from June through October, while Pacific Halibut hold on the bottom from April through August and Lingcod concentrate through late winter and again in late summer. Trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies works the upper water for salmon over the pinnacle, and mooching whole or cut-plug herring covers the same fish where the current sets across the structure. For halibut, drift jigging leadhead jigs, metal jigs, or soft plastic swimbaits along the deeper rock is the primary approach, with herring, octopus, or squid on bottom bait rigs as a backup. Lingcod respond to metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs worked tight to the exposed rock, and the pinnacle also holds Canary Rockfish, Copper Rockfish, and Pacific Cod.
