Johnstone Strait Hump is a rock pinnacle rising from outer, exposed water off Sayward, British Columbia, with depths spanning roughly 30 to 765 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from February through April and again in August and September, alongside Pacific Halibut from April through August and Chinook Salmon from May through August. Rougheye Rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Redstripe Rockfish also work the rock along the pinnacle's slopes and deeper edges. Anglers targeting Lingcod jig the harder structure with metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs, or drop whole herring, live greenling, or squid over the rock. Halibut hold along the deeper bottom where drift jigging with leadhead or metal jigs covers ground, while Chinook are worked with trolled anchovy, herring, hootchies, or spoons through the mid-column above the pinnacle.
