STRUCTURE
Drop Off
Outer Exposed

Otter Point is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off off Sooke, British Columbia, where the bottom falls from roughly 80 to 250 feet. Lingcod hold on this structure through most of the year, peaking from September to May, while Pacific Halibut move through the deeper flats from March to August. Chinook Salmon run strongest from June to August and Coho Salmon from June to October, with Pink Salmon and aggregate Rockfish rounding out the mix. Anglers work the drop-off for Lingcod with metal jigs and swimbaits or drift live greenling and herring over the rock, and target Halibut by drifting salmon bellies, herring, and octopus along the deeper contours. Salmon fishing centers on trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies across the exposed water, with mooching cut-plug herring a productive alternative.
