Hyphocus Island sits off Ucluelet on British Columbia's outer coast, an exposed drop-off where mixed bottom falls away through depths from 0 to 60 feet. Chinook Salmon peak from May through August and Coho Salmon from May into September, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, or spoons along the edge, with mooching cut-plug herring a supporting option. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak March through May and respond to metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs worked over the bottom. Pacific Halibut move through from April to August, targeted by drift jigging leadhead jigs with soft plastics or metal jigs across the mixed floor. Copper Rockfish and Black Rockfish stay resident along the drop-off year-round and hold to the same jigging approach, taking metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits.
