Gower Point is a mixed-bottom bay on the outer approach to Howe Sound, sitting in mid-exposure water off the Sunshine Coast within DFO subarea 28-1. The point holds fishable structure from roughly 20 to 120 feet, with rockfish available through the year and lingcod concentrating from November through April. Chinook run strongest June through August and coho follow from June into September, both worked effectively with downrigger trolling using anchovy in teaser heads, hootchies, trolling spoons, and flashers along the drop. Bottom anglers target lingcod and rockfish over the mixed substrate by jigging leadhead jigs with soft plastics, metal jigs, and swimbaits, with mooching cut or whole herring as a supporting presentation. The combination of shallow shoreline structure and quick access to deeper water lets anglers switch between salmon trolling passes and bottom sets without repositioning far.
