STRUCTURE
Drop Off
Mid

Howe Sound's Pam Rock and Worlcombe Island area is a rocky mid-sound drop-off in DFO subarea 28-1, plunging from roughly 60 to 240 feet along exposed reef structure. Lingcod hold on the deeper edges through their November to April peak, while rockfish work the same rock year-round. Chinook move through from June to August and coho follow from June into September, with both species tracking bait along the tide lines that sweep past these islets. Downrigger trolling with anchovy in teaser heads, flashers, hootchies, and trolling spoons covers the salmon, while jigging leadheads with swimbaits and metal jigs on the drop-offs takes lingcod and rockfish off the bottom. Mooching cut plug or whole herring on tide changes rounds out the approach on both salmon and groundfish.
