Trail Islands is a rocky pinnacle off Vancouver, British Columbia, rising from a mid-exposure stretch where the bottom climbs steeply into fishable water. Depths across the structure run 40 to 120 feet, concentrating baitfish and the salmon that hunt them along the rock. Chinook Salmon hold here through their peak from June to August, while Coho Salmon run strong from June into September. Downrigger trolling with whole herring, anchovy, trolling spoons, or hootchies covers the pinnacle's depth range for Chinook, and mooching cut-plug herring works the same edges when fish sit tighter to the rock. For Coho, trolling spoons and hootchies behind flashers stay productive across the upper water column, with bucktailing an option when fish push to the surface.
