Caspar Point sits off Fort Bragg, California, where an outer-exposed rock drop-off falls through depths of 260 to 660 feet. Chinook Salmon move through from April to September, with Coho Salmon also on the list, and the deep rock structure holds Black Rockfish (peaking March through June and again in July and August), Blue Rockfish (March through September), and Lingcod (strongest in January through February and August through September). Trolling anchovies, herring, spoons, or hoochies covers the salmon over open water, while mooching whole anchovies or herring works the same fish. Over the rock, jigging metal jigs and swimbaits takes Black Rockfish and Lingcod, and shrimp fly rigs tipped with squid strips draw Blue Rockfish along the drop. California Halibut and Pacific Bonito round out the catch across the exposed edge.
