Delgada Canyon sits offshore of Fort Bragg, California, where the seafloor drops through depths of 660 to 1,190 feet along the continental slope. The canyon's deep structure holds sablefish and slope rockfish year-round, drawn to the steep contours and cold water at these depths. Pacific halibut move through the area with a peak window from March through August. Pelagic species including shortfin mako shark and common thresher shark patrol the upper water column above the drop. The combination of slope depth and canyon relief concentrates fish across a range of levels, from the near-surface zone down to the deep benthic band.
