About Cabrillo Beach Launch Ramp Light North
Cabrillo Beach Launch Ramp Light North sits along Long Beach at a mixed, rock-bottomed stretch with moderate exposure and depths running 15 to 40 feet. The rocky structure holds Barred Sand Bass and Calico Bass, both peaking through the warmer months from March into August, alongside California Sheephead that turn on from May into September and White Seabass that run strongest from February through July. Anglers work the sand bass with drift fishing over the rock, presenting live anchovies, live sardines, or plastic swimbaits, while Calico Bass respond to plastics such as swimbaits and soft plastic jerkbaits fished tight to the structure. Sheephead take bait fishing with live shrimp, squid, or rock crab dropped onto the rocks, and White Seabass come to live bait fishing with live squid, sardines, or mackerel when they move through. The shallow-to-mid depth range and hard bottom keep fish close to cover, making a controlled drift across the rock a reliable approach here.
