277 Bank is an outer, exposed rock feature off Santa Monica, California, where the bottom rises through depths of 180 to 320 feet. The offshore structure draws a strong pelagic mix, with Yellowtail peaking May through October, Yellowfin Tuna and Albacore Tuna running June through October, and Dorado holding from June to September. Striped Marlin and Wahoo move through July into October, while Pacific Bluefin Tuna show from April through September and Skipjack Tuna cycle through the warmer months. Yellowtail respond to live bait such as sardines, mackerel, and anchovies, along with yo-yo jigging on heavy iron over the rock. Tuna work here centers on trolling cedar plugs and feather jigs and live bait fishing, while Dorado gather around kelp paddies worked with live sardines and surface iron.
