Pyramid Head is an outer-exposed rock drop-off off San Diego, California, where the bottom falls away through depths of 355 to 1,015 feet. The steep structure and open-water exposure draw pelagic species, with Yellowfin tuna and Albacore Tuna both peaking from June through October and Dorado holding through the summer into October. Yellowfin tuna respond to live bait such as live sardines, live anchovies, and live mackerel, while trolling cedar plugs, feather jigs, and skirted lures covers water across the deep edge. Dorado hold near drifting kelp paddies over the drop, where live sardines, live anchovies, and surface iron produce, and Pacific Bonito move through in early summer, taking live anchovies and live sardines. Blue Shark, Mako Shark, Bigeye tuna, and Skipjack tuna also range across this deep, rocky ledge.
