About Arch Rock
Arch Rock is an outer-exposed sand flat off San Francisco, running between 15 and 35 feet of water where the open Pacific meets the shallow bottom. Chinook Salmon move through from April to September, with Blue Rockfish sharing that same spring-to-fall window and Black Rockfish peaking from May to August, while Lingcod hold across multiple stretches of the year including February through March and August through October. The sand bottom and exposed setting favor trolling whole anchovy, spoons, hoochies, and flashers for Chinook working the water column. Lingcod respond to jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs across the flat, and the same jigging approach takes Black Rockfish holding near the bottom. For Blue Rockfish, a shrimp fly rig worked through the 15-to-35-foot range covers the depth where they stack up over the sand.
