Harding Rock Hump is a rocky pinnacle rising in the inner, protected waters of San Francisco Bay, holding structure across depths of roughly 15 to 35 feet. The rock draws a mix of groundfish and seasonal migrants, including rockfish, lingcod, California halibut, cabezon, and Chinook salmon. Lingcod concentrate on the pinnacle from February through March, August through October, and again in December, and respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, or to live sanddabs and anchovies worked close to the rock. California halibut hold from April through August and take drifted live anchovies, shiner perch, or midshipman across the shallower edges, while cabezon feed on the rock from April through June, August into September, and November into December, targeted with squid, shrimp, and cut bait fished on the bottom. Chinook salmon pass through from April to September and come to trolled whole anchovy, spoons, hoochies, and flashers over the deeper water surrounding the structure.
