14 Mile Bank, also known as Lasuen Knoll, is an outer-exposed rocky pinnacle rising off the coast near Santa Monica, California, with depths running from 120 to 240 feet. The structure draws pelagic gamefish through summer and fall, with Yellowtail peaking May through October, Dorado from June to September, and Albacore and Yellowfin Tuna from June to October. Live bait fishing with sardines, anchovies, and mackerel works the tuna and yellowtail, while kelp paddy fishing with live sardines and surface iron targets Dorado holding near drifting cover. Striped Marlin move through July to October and respond to live bait drift with mackerel, sardines, or squid. The rocky bottom also holds Vermilion and Sunset Rockfish year-round, reached by deep dropping squid strips, shrimp flies, and anchovy across the deeper end of the pinnacle.
