Redondo Canyon is a rock-bottom drop-off off Los Angeles, California, where the seafloor plunges from roughly 60 to 300 feet in outer, exposed water. The steep structure draws pelagic targets including Albacore Tuna peaking May through September, Yellowfin tuna from March through July, Swordfish May through October, and Thresher Shark in February through May and again in August and September, alongside Bigeye tuna, Blue Shark, and Opah. Albacore hold to live bait fishing with live sardines and live anchovies over the deeper edges, while trolling cedar plugs, feather jigs, and skirted trolling lures covers water along the canyon rim. Swordfish come on deep-drop daytime rigs with squid, bonito strip baits, and mackerel worked far down the slope, and shift to night drifting with squid, mackerel, and glow sticks after dark. Thresher Shark respond to trolling with mackerel strip and swimbaits or drift fishing live mackerel and sardines above the rock.
